Mojo the continuing saga
Well it's official, I have the sonnagram pictures, Mojo came back from the trainer with a bowed tendon. 2 deep tears and 3 surface tears. If anything can go wrong with this horse.......... He seems to attract set backs more than any other horse we have owned. 6 to 12 months off totally shoots any barrel futurities. Now comes the hard reality of making the decision on what to do next. He may heal up just fine but at what level will he be able to be used. I have no fear that he would be a fine western pleasure horse but anything beyond that leaves me with doubts. To me the stakes are higher after this type of injury. To take the risk and end up with a permenantly lame horse is something I can't get out of my head. We already have one pasture pet with a torn tendon sheath in the knee. A texan barrel clinician did that and at the time we looked at the tape and saw exactly when and what did it. I can go on a lot more but it does no good. At that time I swore not to let others on my horses to train. Mojo's situation just strengthen my resolve that if you want it done right, do it yourself. I'm just sick and dis-heartened by this and the only thing that helps for now is to ride Mojo's younger brother Tuff. A green broke 4yr old that is getting legged up for his training this summer.........by me or my daughter.

Very sad news - I'm glad you have his brother.
Thank you.
Time will tell. I've done rehab on horses before sometimes it works and somtimes it doesn't. We have a little sweet buckskin mare that broke her hip jumping a 5ft fence and landing on a water trough when she was 2.(still haven't figured why she would do that) Not suitable for competition but will have her first foal in April.

I'm so sorry to hear that as Mojo is such a beauty too. Barrels are so hard on their legs. My gelding used to barrel but I just trail ride him now and he loves to work going up and down mountains.
Sad story. Really sorry.

Mojo is accepting his smaller pen and having his legs wrapped. We never made to barrel training. He has been shown the barrels at the trot etc. His real training was to start in a month after he had a good rate down.
Thanks for the kind words.

horses ... you gotta love em... or they'll break your heart... somewhere where the L-rd closes a door, He opens a window..
you'll "know" what to do
gp
p.s. are you planning to go to ashland endurance ride in June?
Oh I am so sorry to read this!
Two of them down...awe! You are right though...doing it yourself, should you have the inclination and knowledge, is best.
My mare was "sent" to someone and she will never be the same. Not physical injury...but MENTAL. I actually think it is worse...at least for a TB.
Hang in and you are doing all you can..waiting is hard and dreams dashed too.
